⚠️Important Information⚠️

Soaking & Storage of Gels

When soaking the gels, they need to be soaked fully submerged in warm water from the tap for a minimum of 4-6 hours.

Once they have fully grown you can leave them in the water and keep them in or out of the refrigerator.

When you are ready to use them just drain off any excess water with a strainer before you feed them into the mag but do not dry them as they need to be lubricated to work properly.

Unreliable and not recommended by me at all

GBU really likes removing reviews less than 4 stars, so my honest star review is 2.

To clear up one major issue people find concerning? I have dropped this gun a few times after falling asleep with it in my hand and the frame has not cracked once.

The gun itself is fine out of the box, but I’ve had this gun since October ‘24 as reviewer JM (as of writing, you may see it’s August ‘25). I can count on one hand how many gels I’ve had actually hit my target intact, as most of the time my gels are sliced in half by the (correct me if I’m wrong on terms) retriever and half the gel manages to actually enter the inner barrel. In my efforts to disassemble the gun and figure out the issue, I now have the secondary issue of the slide becoming really stiff after firing. This was prior to me dropping the gun to clear up.

I’ve had another gun - a JG works Hi-Capa valued at $349 (bought locally so it’s probably a bit less in actual RRP) which I completely wrecked and got it fixed. This Frankenstein gun which has been torn apart about 35 or more times outperformed this gun straight out of the box, since the integrated hop-up often left my gels doing either sine waves in the air or just quite literally spiralling into the floor. At 4-5 metres, it was unable to hit my 2006 Corolla sedan consistently, and that’s if the mag even fed a gel.

TL:DR: gun fails to feed often, hop-up makes accuracy suffer. If you take this to a playing field without any modification to the feeding, good luck.

Glock 17 - It’s a Glock, what do you expect?

Double bell G17 770, where to begin…
Model: Looks like the Gen 2 Glock 17, regarding the missing “Gen5” marking, lack of finger grooves, and the non-flared magwell.

QUALITY:
I do agree with the other review on this page by Isaac D; it does not feel like a polymer frame Glock 17, but moreso like that 3d printing stuff (might be polymer, I’m no expert). I do worry about what would happen if I drop it as the frame does not feel super solid and for that reason I do fear it may crack.
The slide and other important parts are all metal, so the internals are all solid. I wouldn’t be too worried about dropping this thing slide-first but maybe try not to drop it.

PRICE:
Is it worth $300ish? Probably not. I mean, sure for a Hi-Capa, you’d still be out of pocket for the inner barrel hop-up and such, but for an extra $100, you can get one of the most versatile pistols on the GBB pistol market. It does come with a pretty neat little case though.

PERFORMANCE:
Excellent straight out of the box shooting, comfortably accurate across my yard (maybe 4-5m?). Does sway a bit - not consistently hitting dead centre at 2m but then again we are shooting water pretty much.

SHOOTING:
I’ll be honest, it feels like an undercharged 9mm bullet and feels like a proper Glock in terms of weight and size.

COMPETITION:
It’s a Glock. It’s more of a personal defence role in arenas rather than a full blown combat pistol. You will probably find yourself getting whacked by every Hi-Capa user in pistol shootouts.

MODIFICATION:
There are no picatinny rails on this gun at all. You can probably fit an extended magazine and a barrel attachment at best.

TOO LONG?
It’s a Glock. Great first gun but maybe search up some discount codes first because I’ve used a $350 Hi-Capa and it blew this out of the water.

Meh.

An honest review, I don't think I will be purchasing another Double Bell product, the bottom half of the gun was plastic. The plastic was not a good feeling, well made but cheap and weak. To take off the slide you must remove the magazine and rack the slide, that is a normal, although to remove the slide you then must push down onto two buttons. These buttons are weak and made badly, the slide looks good, but also feels cheap.
